Higuey, or all Higuey, is the capital of the eastern province of La Altagracia, in the Dominican Republic city. The Yuma River runs through urban areas of Higuey.
The most important monuments are the Basilica of La Altagracia and the Church of St. Denis (Saint Denis), since the sixteenth century.
Juan Dolio is a small seaside community and tourist destination in the
province of San Pedro de Macoris on the southern coast of the Dominican
Republic on the island of Hispaniola. Juan Dolio has 2,488 inhabitants
and belongs to the district municipality Guayacanes.
La Romana has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the
country because of the beautiful beaches and the tourism infrastructure
that has been put in place.
Punta Cana is part of the Punta Cana-Bávaro-Veron-Macao municipal
district, in the municipality of Higüey, in La Altagracia Province (the
easternmost province of the Dominican Republic). The area is best known
for its beaches and balnearios, which face both the Caribbean and
Atlantic, and it has been a popular tourist destination since the 1970s.
The name Punta Cana refers to the cane palms in the region, and
literally means "Tip of the White Cane Palms".
